About the course: In 2016, several leaders of the AUSA European Region Leadership Team created and refined the eight-hour training program titled “Introduction to Doing Business with the Federal Government” in response to repeated requests from AUSA members. The course has been taught to hundreds of AUSA members in Germany, Greece, Italy, Denmark, Israel and the USA, and it has been continuously upgraded and improved each year. The training is now being offered by the Suncoast Chapter of AUSA as part of the “Jenkins Military Leadership & Entrepreneurship Academy”.

What to expect: This is an interactive, holistic training, and no prior knowledge is required to take the course. Participants will learn how to register a business in SAM.gov, obtain a UEI, CAGE code, DUNS number and prepare themselves substantially for federal contracting. Students will learn where to search for federal solicitations worldwide, to navigate SAM.gov and similar sites, and to understand and interpret solicitations, sources sought notices etc. that they encounter. Later, they will learn to prepare and submit basic proposals and what to expect during the evaluation and award processes. An introduction to FAR theory and related rules is presented. The basics of set-aside requirements, researching the federal marketplace and how to position companies within competitive landscape will be covered. Researching competition and teaming partners, protesting awards and interacting with federal small business POCs will be covered. By the end of the day, engaged participants should feel confident in the subject matter and will have several practical group exercises to test their learning. They should be able to prepare simple proposals at that point and will be ready to take the advanced course if they desire to do so.
Each participant will receive a certificate of completion of the course.
About the Jenkins Academy: The Jenkins Military Leadership & Entrepreneurship Academy was established by the Suncoast Chapter of AUSA in 2022 with the express goal of offering a variety of leadership development programs to the military community as well as entrepreneurship programs for Military Families, Veterans and Small Businesses who support the military community.

Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, CWU began operations in 2004 and is owned and managed by Charles & Susan Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins is a retired U.S. Army Special Forces Veteran, who is the majority shareholder and CWU’s qualifying disabled veteran. The company is a prime contractor on the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command’s Defense Language Interpretation and Translation Enterprise II (DLITE II) multi-award task order contract.
To better serve the academy's mission, the academy headquarters is situated within the AUSA Suncoast Chapter, and trainings are held on site at various locations the CONUS..
