Natural Dyeing Workshop: Silk Scarf

Join teaching artist Meredith Hammon for this hands-on workshop to create a one-of-a-kind silk scarf. Natural dyeing is a process that goes back thousands of years, and uses the plants that grow all around you. Come and learn the method, some history, tips, tricks, and pointers in a process that is fun and messy and easy but hard and often frustrating and take home an 8x54 inch scarf dyed with color you applied yourself. Wear clothing you don't mind getting messy, as you learn all about this colorful craft. Examples of dyes include saffron (yellow), cochineal (red and purple), sage (green), and cinnamon (red-brown).



All materials are non-toxic

Ages 10+ are welcome.
