“Spennandi. Brýtur upp úr nýggjum. Bjóðar av.” Soleiðis ljóðar rómurin um forkunnugu 'Kvæði' plátuna, sum Teitur og danski indie-jazz bólkurin Girls in Airports góvu út í november í fjør - og sum verður framførd í Føroyum fyri fyrstu ferð nú í september
Á plátuni hava Teitur og Girls in Airports endurtulkað føroyskan fólkatónleik; rím, skjaldur og kvæði, og borið hann fram í einum jazzutum, elektroniskum og indie-kendum hami.
Samstarvið varð skotið í gongd í 2022, tá Teitur og Girls in Airports settu sær fyri at gera nýggjan tónleik og spæla konsertir saman. Hetta útviklaði seg skjótt til plátuna 'Kvæði'. Hugsanin handan verkætlanina er at seta føroyska sangarvin í nýtt ljós og bjóða dagsins ættarliði atgongd til hann uppá aðrar mátar, enn vit fyrr hava upplivað.
Gaffa.dk gevur plátuni sera góð skoðbrá og sigur m.a við 5 av 6 stjørnum:
“... úrslitið er imponerandi. Tónleikurin er sera óvanligur. Vigar meistaraliga millum melodiska sangarvin, fjølbroyttan vokaljazz, nútímans elektro-akustiskan tónleik og tað meira óskilgreinaða indie-elementið, sum bæði Teitur og Girls in Airports meistra.
(...)
Girls in Airports eru Martin Stender á saxofon, Mathias Holm á tangentar, Victor Dybbroe á slagverk og Oliver Laumann á trummur.
Konsertferðin í Føroyum er stuðla av Dans-Færøsk kulturfond og Økistónum.

“Exciting. Groundbreaking. Challenging.” That’s how the praise sounds for the remarkable album Kvæði, released in November last year by Teitur and the Danish indie-jazz band Girls in Airports – and which will now be performed in the Faroe Islands for the first time this September.
On the album, Teitur and Girls in Airports reinterpret Faroese folk music – rhymes, chants, and ballads – presenting it in a jazzy, electronic, and indie-influenced form.
The collaboration began in 2022, when Teitur and Girls in Airports set out to create new music and perform concerts together. This quickly developed into the album Kvæði. The idea behind the project is to shed new light on the Faroese ballad tradition and give today’s generation access to it in different ways than we have previously experienced.
Gaffa.dk gives the album excellent reviews, awarding it 5 out of 6 stars and writing, among other things:
“... the result is impressive. The music is highly unusual. It moves masterfully between melodic ballad tradition, diverse vocal jazz, modern electro-acoustic music, and the more undefinable indie element, which both Teitur and Girls in Airports master.
(...)
Teitur and Girls in Airports succeed in renewing the old songs and guiding them onto other, exciting paths which – in my opinion – open the world’s doors once more. The album is exciting. Groundbreaking. Challenging.”
Several concerts have already been held in Denmark, with more added this summer, and now they are coming to the Faroe Islands.
Girls in Airports are Martin Stender on saxophone, Mathias Holm on keyboards, Victor Dybbroe on percussion, and Oliver Laumann on drums.
The Faroese tour is supported by the Danish-Faroese Cultural Fund and Økistónar
