Join a guided tour of the World Press Photo Exhibition 2025 and discover the stories that matter, told through the world’s best documentary photography.
The World Press Photo Exhibition returns to its only Sydney venue, the State Library, which has proudly hosted this popular global phenomenon for over 20 years. The internationally touring exhibition showcases the best and most important photojournalism and documentary photography of the last year.
Explore the photographs that won this year’s annual World Press Photo Contest, chosen from 59,320 entries received from 3778 photographers from 141 countries. This year there are more winning projects and photographers than ever before.

Avryl Whitnall is a Creative Producer in the Exhibitions team and has a longstanding fascination with the State Library’s collections. She has curated over 15 exhibitions at the Library, including The Art of Audubon & Gould (2000), Villas of Darlinghurst (2002), Max Dupain — Modernist (2007), Kahlil Gibran: The prophet, the artist, the man (2011) and Family Fragments: Photographic etchings by Sally McInerney (2016), as well as being the creative producer for many of the State Library’s exhibitions.
