Introduction to Oils-Monochromatic Still Life

In this first session of Intro to Oils, students will create a monochromatic still life—an ideal introduction to oil painting. Using a step-by-step traditional approach, we’ll focus on value, brushwork, and paint handling to build form and confidence. We'll also cover studio safety, materials, and the unique qualities of oil paint. Students may work from a classroom setup or bring a monochrome photo reference.

Who It’s For:
Beginner-friendly—no experience needed.
Ages 16+ or with instructor permission.
Commitment:
This is a 6-week course. Late enrollment (by Week 2) may be possible, but catching up could limit how much of the painting is completed.
