Sunniside has always been a place of courage, curiosity, learning, creativity, and radical thinking. From the Chartist movement and the progressive ideas of the age of Enlightenment, to the Sunderland Humane Society and the Sunderland Literary and Philosophical Society, the people of this area have long stood up, spoken out, and pushed boundaries—driven by a desire for knowledge, justice, and change.

We’re honouring this powerful legacy with a new series of monthly, hands-on workshops—rooted in Sunniside’s history of change and reimagined for today.
