This seminar takes a deep dive into the evolving landscape of governance in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. From the legacy of colonial rule and post-independence instability to today’s political structures and civic movements, we explore how governance has shaped — and been shaped by — the country’s ongoing struggles and aspirations.
We’ll examine:
🔹 The historical roots of weak institutions, corruption, and foreign interference
🔹 Efforts by Congolese citizens, civil society, and reformers to create transparent, accountable, and inclusive systems.
🔹 What meaningful governance reform could look like at local, national, and global levels
Let’s discuss how political will can be mobilized and what role international actors should play in shaping a just and democratic future for Congo.
Join us for a critical conversation connecting history, present realities, and the possibilities ahead.
