We study the main meditative methods of Tibetan Buddhism, starting with Samatha, the basis of all meditation. Then, we cover Vipassana, the transcendental insight. Samatha and Vipassana finally lead to the deep core instructions, through which we train ourselves to dwell in open awareness and recognise the true nature of mind.

Mike Bortolotti will guide us through the weekend. He has studied and practiced Tibetan Buddhism for 25 years, and he's teachers include among others Venerable Khenchen Sherab Gyaltsen Amipa Rinpoche and H.H. Sakya Trizin.
Intellectual knowledge is indispensable to understand the right path, but if it is not accompanied by an authentic meditative experience, we will not be able to control our mind and disturbing emotions. Integrating knowledge and meditation is the secret of spiritual development. This has allowed many practitioners to achieve realisation. At the same time, this is the biggest challenge for Westerners, who tend to get lost, intellectual knowledge is then at best combined with a weak meditative ability.
