Presentation: “Curious by Design: Redefining Leadership Success”
Let’s reimagine what effective leadership looks like by challenging conventional success metrics that not only fail to capture women's most transformative contributions but often lead to burnout and imbalance in workplace, home, and community. Qualities essential for impactful leadership such as curiosity, productive failure, relationship-building, and collaborative decision-making fail to be counted with traditional bottom-line measures that prioritize productivity over sustainability…and joy. By redefining how we evaluate leadership for ourselves and within the structures we lead, we can illuminate and celebrate essential work done behind-the-scenes.
About Our Speaker:
Sarah E. Ross is the Director of Community Leadership at the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin. This opportunity was a major career shift where she continues to satiate her curiosity and make deeper connections to this community she calls home. Prior to joining the Community Foundation in 2022, she was an award-winning scenic, property, puppet, and costume designer for live theatrical productions. Her designs have been seen locally and at Peninsula Players Theater, Forward Theater Company, Renaissance Theaterworks, American Blues Theater, Marriott Theater Lincolnshire, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, The Joffrey Ballet, The Second City, Paramount Theater, Shattered Globe Theater, Theater at the Center, and Theater Wit. She was also privileged to teach in the theatre and dance program at UWSP where the students were her greatest teachers. She earned her MFA from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, her MBA from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, is working towards her pilot’s license, and is a proud member of Local United Scenic Artists 829.
