About the event

Where Sails Once Flew - A Festival of Australian Music
Come and join Lumens Chamber Choir, directed by Kathryn Morton and accompanied by Feodora zu Hohenlohe as they explore a wealth of music by Australian composers across decades. The programme will include Hush, On the Death of a Bush Church by Iain Grandage, Songs No Longer Sung by Julianna Kaye, and Stabat Mater by Elena Kats Chernin. Composers such as Joseph Twist, Carl Crossin, Sally Whitwell and Ruth McCall will also feature in this programme. A music feast for lovers of Australian music.

This concert is part of the 'Festival of Australian Music', a one day festival event being held at the University of Queensland School of Music. The Festival comprises an afternoon Workshop and pre-concert Question & Answer Session with acclaimed Australian composer Elena Kats-Chernin. Come early to the concert in the afternoon to hear Elena talk about her music, her compositional process, and other significant influences on her approach to creating music. The Festival is targeted to school and tertiary music students, but will be suitable for anyone with an interest in Australian music.
