SJSW Poetry Open Mic with Nicole Haldoupis! (LAST ONE BEFORE SUMMER!!)

Come help us celebrate the last open mic of the season (until September) with our lovely featured reader Nicole Haldoupis (thank you Nicole!) and help me (Cole) navigate the treacherous waters of solo hosting (I miss you August...)

Nicole Haldoupis is a writer from Toronto who lives in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. Her first book, Tiny Ruins (Radiant Press, 2020), was shortlisted for four Saskatchewan Book Awards and the Bressani Literary Prize. She won the 2023 Gregory J. Power Poetry Award and received an honourable mention in 2024. The novel she wrote for her MA thesis at Memorial University received the 2024/2025 Department of English Award for Thesis Excellence, and she is the recipient of the 2025 Landfall Trust Award. She’s currently a PhD student at Memorial University, a creative writing instructor at the College of the North Atlantic, and a managing editor of Paragon Press. She plays guitar and bass in a girl band called HAGS.

This month we are continuing on with our initiative to make the sign-up process more fair-- spots are capped at 15, like always, but we will prioritize sign-ups from those who did not read at last month's event. After 10 minutes it's fair game!
