We are pleased to invite you to another engaging and timely Virtual Lunch & Learn session with Jared Hogan and Michaela Doucette.
This session will explore how shifting terminology in archival descriptions can support reconciliation efforts between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
Reconciliation Through Terminology focuses on the use of outdated archival language to describe Indigenous Peoples in Newfoundland and Labrador and beyond. Michaela and Jared will introduce respectful, current terminology and explain why these changes are essential to the ongoing process of reconciliation. Participants will also glean insights into practical approaches to linking historical language with modern terms, ensuring records remain accessible without reinforcing colonial narratives.
