And now for something completely different as FMASU’s Electric Film Series returns to The Electric Theater on Tuesday, June 17th with a FREE 50th Anniversary screening of a 70’s comedy masterwork!

After four extremely successful seasons of “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” and an anthology comprised of sketches from the first two seasons called “Monty Python’s and Now For Something Completely Different,” this beloved British comedy troupe would unleash their first proper theatrical release upon the world. That release would be the righteously hilarious “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” It’s hard to believe that it's been five decades since this legendary comedy first graced the big screen and through the years, it’s garnered legions of devoted fans. In “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” the likes of John Cleese, Michael Palin, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Terry Gilliam put their own laugh-per-second spin on the sacred text in a movie that Gene Siskel famously said; “Too many of the jokes took too long to set up.” Join us in disagreeing with the legendary Mr. Siskel as we experience a 50th Anniversary screening of an epic slice of pure comedy gold.
Per usual, we at The Electric Film Series aren’t just about the movies themselves. We’re also all about film history and context and as such, with each of these screenings we have a very special guest on hand to introduce the title of the evening and to lead a post-screening discussion. Our special guest for “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” is a special one indeed and we’re not just saying that because his organization is a proud sponsor of The Electric Film Series. The special guest in question is Bruce Bennett and in addition to being the CEO of St. George Musical Theater, he loves films! In fact, back in the day, Mr. Bennett used to write a movie column for a local newspaper before collaborating with FMASU’s Adam Mast on a review show called Film Fanatics. What’s more, Bruce count’s “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” as one of his all time favorite comedies so it’s safe to say, he’ll bring quite a bit of insight to the post screening discussion. All the more reason to attend!
Be sure to arrive at our screening a little early and order an optional menu item from Riggatti’s to enjoy during the post-screening discussion or, you can feel free to take the pizza home with you following the movie.
