"Alan Cross is an internationally known broadcaster, interviewer, writer, consultant, blogger and speaker. In his 40+ years in the broadcasting and music business, Alan has interviewed the biggest names in rock and is also known as a musicologist and documentarian through programs like The Ongoing History of New Music. He’s currently providing content consulting for 102.1 the Edge and Q107 in Toronto.
Outside of radio, Alan’s resume includes five books, hundreds of public speaking engagements, and a national music column for Global News. He’s also constantly engaged in voicework, researching, writing, and consulting for commercials, TV, movies, documentaries, and corporate video. Another major project was The Science of Rock’n’Roll, a travelling museum exhibit that toured science centres across North America. Alan is the host of the true crime podcast Uncharted: Crime and Mayhem in the Music Industry. He also attends music conferences and lectures at schools and events all over the world.
Alan has been deeply involved exploring the present and future relationships between music, technology and social networking. Over the past few years, Alan has been making the rounds and speaking at pubs, bars, studios, and theatres around Canada, the USA, Europe, and Asia. These events are discussions with music fans in what Alan describes as a contemporary take on the "salon”-style exchange of ideas. Because no two audiences are ever the same, each salon is completely different. These are free-wheelin’ discussions that always go off in a million different directions at once.
