In these sessions, you will be introduced to the basics of jewellery making.
We will learn a mix of both traditional and contemporary processes from cutting, sizing, shaping, texturing, forming, soldering and polishing. Once we have the initial skills under our belt, we will begin to uncover techniques such as doming, punching, hammering, scribing, granulation and drilling to affect the appearance of your metal in design. Once you have honed your newfound skills, you will move through the classes at your own pace to apply these techniques, creating a set of samples and perhaps even finished pieces of jewellery, from simple hammered rings to earrings and pendants.
There are currently only 6-8 places on the classes, and a large room to learn in. Choose from sitting at a jewellery bench or spreading out across the tables. The perfect class for an individual or a group to come and learn, socialise and most importantly, make some jewellery!
This class is suitable for complete beginners, and those who have attended our jewellery workshops and are looking to take their jewellery journey further, or even just make it more regular!
East Nook Studio is a well equipped jewellery studio based at the West Port of St Andrews town centre, which is just moments from the bus station for those who might want to travel in.
Future dates are also available for classes starting on 16 October.
Places are limited, and we would advise booking early to avoid disappointment.
