The Digital Inclusion in Later Life project in the School of Computer Science at the University of St Andrews is happy to host a talk and demonstration by Stuart Beveridge from Seescape on Wednesday 24 September 2025 at 14:00. A networking session will follow the talk to enable attendees to meet one another and make connections.
Speaker
Stuart Beveridge is the Head of Accessible Technology at Seescape, a charity that works with visually impaired people in Fife. In this role, Stuart explores a range of digital technologies that can help improve the independence of those with visual impairments, and provides advice, training and support to his clients on adopting useful and appropriate technologies.
During this event, Stuart will discuss his work, including necessity and needs-driven innovation in finding accessible and affordable solutions, and the challenges and opportunities of emerging technologies such as generative AI. He will demonstrate some of the technologies he regularly uses, and outline possible avenues for collaborations with academia, industry, the third sector and policy makers.
Target audience
Colleagues from all sectors interested in accessible technologies, digital inclusion and assistive technologies are invited to attend the event. Tickets are free but required for attendance.
Venue
Both the talk and the networking session will take place in room 1.33 of the Jack Cole Building in North Haugh, St Andrews.
Parking
There is free parking at Petheram Bridge car parks very close to the School of Computer Science, athough spaces may be limited during office hours.
