Every Tuesday in June & July**no craft 7/1** from 2pm - 4pm in the Library Classroom, registered participants will enjoy a craft designed to spark interest and creativity in patrons of all ages.
ALL CHILDREN 11yrs old & younger must be accompanied by an adult(19 years or older) parent or guardian while in the library and when attending library programming.
All Crafternoon programs are not suitable for very young children.
Please check the description and verify your child is able to complete the craft before registering for the individual programs.
6/3: MAGIC SPIRAL FIDGET CUBES: We'll be using upcycled book pages to create origami cubes with a mind-bending twist! This activity requires precise paper folding, glue sticks, and paper clamps. Best for ages 8 and up. All supplies provided.
6/10 FIREFLY LANTERNS: create a lantern you can use all summer using plastic jar containers, fake greenery, twigs, and battery powered wire LEDs wrapped in bits of tissue paper. Minimal hot glue required. Very simple project with delightful results. Suitable for all ages.
6/17 POKÉMON™ TERRARIUM: Create a tiny Pokémon™ habitat! Build a tiny environment of dried moss, rocks stones, and sticks inside 4" acrylic Pokeball with a little creativity and a LOT of hot glue! Best for ages 8 and up. All supplies provided.
6/24 CELEBRATION CAMPOUT DIORAMA: In an open shoebox, we will build a wooden tent and create a outdoor campout scene topped off by using a little blown paint drops on black paper threaded with wire LED strings to make a night sky lit with fireworks. Best for ages 6 and up. Al supplies provided.
7/8 FAUX NEON SIGN: Participants will draw/design their sign using chalk on an 8"x10" black stretched canvas, then trace their design using colored LED tube lighting by knotting metal wire through the canvas creating a sign formed of a continuous tube of light. This project will require plenty of patience, and excellent hand eye coordination. Best for ages 12 and up.
7/15 CANDY TIN MINI BOOKSHELF: Create a Lilliputian reading nook inside an Altoids-style candy tin using popsicle sticks, scrap paper, miniature bits & greenery, and miniature books that participants will choose & create themselves. This activity will require intense focus, excellent hand-eye coordination, and a delight in fussing with tiny bits. Best for older teens and adults. All supplies provided, but feel free to bring anything your miniscule decor if you like :)
7/22 SAND LAYER ART BOTTLE: Participants will created a unique piece of personal art using layers of colored sand inside a plastic bottle. Fake fossils are available to hot glue to the outside for decoration. Activity requires a steady hand. Best for ages 12 and up. All supplies provided
Registration is REQUIRED for EACH of these programs.
Each individual who wishes to take home a craft must be registered separately; ADULTs who are only accompanying/assisting children DO NOT need to register separately.
