Javier Mendoza, aka Hobo Cane, has made quite a name for himself in the past twenty years or so. In STL we know him and love him. When he was younger and getting started, he played with Jim Peters a lot. Then time went by, and circumstances changed. People were getting married, having babies and doing different things. Both men were always playing music, but their days playing together regularly were pretty much done. Jim has been playing with a lot of different people, but his primary gig is with The Funky Butt Brass Band as the lead guitar. He also plays with Emily Wallace a lot. Javier lives in Nashville where his family has their home base. But just like riding a bike, they will play together and pick it up right where they left off. Maybe once or twice a year you can see these two playing together if you happen to be free that night. Well, we hope that you are free to come see them play together on August 10th!
It's a Sunday show at 6pm. Sunday shows are a bit different. They start earlier because it's the end of a weekend, it's hot as hell outside in the summer and people usually don't want to be out too late. So, we accommodate them by making the show a bit earlier. You can come early, eat a hardy meal and then grab a drink and head upstairs for the show.
This will be two old friends playing music together. Two guys that have been friends for decades, not just years. They are both master musicians and can do just about anything. They will likely have someone to keep the beat, but it will be Javier and Jim out front, sitting on chairs with guitars in their laps, belting out tunes. In the intimate setting of Jack's Joint, it will feel like a living room show, and essentially, it is.
This one will sell out quick, so get those tickets today!
