The South Jersey Jazz Society in cooperation with Ocean First Bank is proud to present
Arturo O’Farrill 17 piece Latin Jazz Orchestra on June 6th on the William Morrow Beach, New Jersey and Bay Ave., in Somers Point from 7 until 9 p.m. This event is part three of the South Jersey Jazz Society Spring Jazz Series.
This Blue Note recording artist is a eight time Grammy winner who is also a Professor and Assistant Bean of at UCLA was born in Mexico and raised in New York, Arturo O’Farrill is a prolific pianist, composer and passionate promoter of Latin music and its cultural heritage.
Arturo is the founder and Artistic Director of the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of Aftro Latin music through performance, education and preservation. Throughout his career, he has played with several bands and orchestras all over the world, including his own Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra and the Arturo O’Farrill Sextet. He has also performed Ballet Hispanico and Malpaso Dance Company, and composed pieces for the Evidence Dance Company and the Alvin Alley Dance.
Arturo will bring with him a stellar line up of first call New York City based Latin Jazz Artist and will present a high power evening of this spectacular musical medium..
