Bravo Boro will hold auditions for Rumors by Neil Simon on Sunday, June 15th from 6:30pm – 8:30pm and Monday June 16th 6:30pm – 9:00pm at Trellis & Vine at 27 S Lowry St, Smyrna, TN 37167

Auditions will consist of cold reads from the script. Rehearsals will be Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6:30pm-9pm.

Performance dates will be August 22nd-24th and 29th-31st. All tech week rehearsals are mandatory. Tech week will be August 17th-21st.

All Roles are open.

Summary

When four affluent couples gather for a dinner party at the deputy mayor’s home, they expect a night of celebration. Instead, they arrive to find the host wounded, his wife missing, and no clear explanation. Desperate to avoid scandal, they attempt to hide the truth from the other guests – and eventually, from the police. As the lies spiral out of control, chaos, confusion, and outrageous misunderstandings turn the evening into an uproarious farce. Rumors is a high-speed comedy of miscommunication, cover-ups, and social satire.

Characters

Ken – (Suggested 30s-50s, may be played by any age)
Witty, anxious, and desperate to keep control. A logical thinker unraveling under pressure. Must handle fast-paced lines with rising panic.

Chris – (Suggested 30s-50s, may be played by any age)
Ken’s partner. A bundle of nerves, prone to drinking when stressed. Sarcastic and sympathetic with a sharp edge.

Lenny – (Suggested 30s-50s, may be played by any age)
Wry, defensive, and physically aching from a car accident. Tries to keep things together, but loses patience quickly. Must be able to deliver a lengthy, comedic monologue.

Claire – (Suggested 30s-50s, may be played by any age)
Sharp-tongued and nosy. COnstantly probing and prodding to uncover the truth. Great comedic timing and reactions.

Cookie – (Suggested 30s-60s, may be played by any age)
Eccentric and dramatic. Prone to random physical complaints. Big energy, loveable oddball.

Ernie – (Suggested 30s-50s, may be played by any age)
Cookie’s partner. Good-natured and mild mannered. Tries to defuse tension. Often swept along in chaos. Dry comedic delivery is key.

Glenn – (Suggested 30s-50s, may be played by any age)
A politician with a polished exterior and fraying nerves. Desperate to avoid scandal. Charisma with a boiling undercurrent.

Cassie – (Suggested 30s-50s, may be played by any age, should appear younger than Glenn)
Glenn’s partner. Jealous, emotional, and dramatic. Their fights are loud and pointed. Needs intense contrast with Glenn.

Officer Welch – (Any age)
Detective arriving at the end of the show with another officer. Straight character in an insane situation. Must be able to play deadpan against chaos
