The Tutor

Caoimhe Kearins hails from Co. Sligo in the West of Ireland, outside the town of Ballymote, the heart of “Coleman Country”. She is the fourth generation of a family steeped in traditional music. Both as a primary school teacher based in Sligo and a tutor at workshops, Comhaltas branch classes and festivals all over Ireland and abroad, she has contributed extensively to the promotion of Irish traditional culture.

As a young musician to date, Caoimhe experienced success at county, provincial and All-Ireland level at feisanna and fleadhanna across Ireland. The continuation of this success includes her most recent achievements namely; current Senior All-Ireland Fiddle Champion 2018 (one of the most coveted titles in Traditional Irish Music),Winner of the Fiddler of Dooney 2017, All-Ireland Senior Female Singing Champion 2016, two time All- Ireland Senior Trio Champion 2009 and 2015, and All- Ireland Senior Lilting Champion 2011.

Caoimhe has represented Comhaltas as a performer, tutor and adjudicator overseas on tours of Britain, Luxembourg, America, Canada and Brazil. She most recently performed for the President of America, President Joe Biden on his visit to his ancestral town of Ballina, Co. Mayo in April 2023.

On the Day

Workshops will start promptly at 2pm. Parents should allow time for registration beforehand. Workshops will finish promptly at the stated time and parents/guardians will need to be there to collect their children promptly at the end of workshop.
