The Yaaw Koo.éex’ (Herring Ceremony) is a powerful expression of Indigenous resilience and community vision, led by K'ash'eechtlaa Louise Brady. Rooted in tradition and carried forward with intention, this contemporary ceremony invites the whole community to honor the yaaw — the herring — a vital relative in our ecosystem and culture.

For the past several years, the Herring Protectors have made this ceremony their keystone effort, co-hosting alongside the Point House Kiks.ádi to bring together community members, leaders, and allies in shared respect, education, and celebration.
