About this event
Leo Green – Music Impresario, Broadcaster, Bandleader
Leo Green is a dynamic figure in the music world. As founder of London’s BluesFest, he grew the event from 100-capacity clubs to a multi-million-pound festival at the Royal Albert Hall and O2 Arena. Earlier, he successfully reimagined Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club as Artistic Director, revitalising the iconic venue.
A prolific broadcaster, Leo has written and hosted over 200 shows for BBC Radio 2, including Sounds of the 50s, Friday Night is Music Night, and specials such as In Conversation with Van Morrison.
As a saxophonist, arranger, and bandleader, Leo has worked with Sir Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Tom Jones, Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, Dionne Warwick, Jools Holland, Jeff Beck, and many others. His 2022 project, Celtic Soul, features musicians who played with Van Morrison and has earned acclaim internationally.
Leo often draws on vivid memories from a life on the road—including a stint in Jerry Lee Lewis’s band, which once ended with a knife-and-bottle incident. He is also the son of the late Benny Green RIP —renowned saxophonist, author, and beloved broadcaster.
