An Exhibition of work by local Artist Alice Harman.
Remembering Alice Harman: A Botanical Life
On the weekend of 6th–7th September 11am - 4pm, Alice Harman’s studio — The Cow Shed in Steyning — will open its doors one last time for a special exhibition celebrating her life and work.
Alice, a much-loved water colour artist and long-time member of the Society of Botanical Artists, passed away earlier this year. Known for her love of life and kind spirit, Alice had a rare gift for capturing the natural world in all its fine detail. From the mossy rocks of the Scottish Highlands to the wildflowers of the South Downs, her paintings are full of gentle observation and deep care.
Alice never sought the spotlight, but her work spoke volumes — earning her medals from the Royal Horticultural Society and a regular place in exhibitions by the Society of Botanical Artists. Those who knew her speak of a thoughtful, curious woman who found joy in the small things and shared that joy, quietly, through her art.
The exhibition, lovingly curated by family and friends, will feature original paintings and prints. It’s a chance to step into Alice’s
world — into the studio where she spent countless quiet hours painting, thinking, and noticing.
You’re warmly invited to come and spend time with her work. To pause, look closely, and share in the calm, careful beauty that defined Alice’s life — and lives on in every brushstroke she left behind.
