Celebrate the longest day of the year enjoying the rhythms, flavors, and sceneries of the season. Set in the scenic Finley’s Landing Park, this family-friendly gathering will honor the beginning of summer with a full sensory experience.
First, we will explore the natural landscape with a short guided hike around the park, led by naturalist Kaytlan of Dubuque County Conservation, and herbalist, Natalie of Taproot Apothecary. We will learn about the landscape and wild edibles growing around us, as well as forage ingredients for our herbal mocktail.
You will then craft your own mocktail through a hands-on mixing station where you can sample the flavors of the season with a variety of herbal syrups, oxymels, and edible flowers. We will then sip on our delectable drinks as we will wander over to the beach for an interactive drum circle led by Callie of Centrally Rooted. You can watch, you can join, you can even bring your own drum!
Sign up now to enjoy the rhythms and flavors of the summer (complete with a beach campfire) as we honor the longest day of the year and celebrate the change of season.
HELPFUL INFO: Please consider bringing a picnic, snacks, a beach blanket and a mason jar or cup for your herbal drink. If you have your own drum, please bring that along as well!
This fun, unforgettable Solstice event is brought to you in collaboration by Dubuque County Conservation Board, Centrally Rooted, and Taproot Apothecary.
