Plant Kin: A Wholesome Introduction to Herbalism & Earth-Based Self-Care
Step into a gentle, grounding space where curiosity is nurtured and connection to the green world blossoms. Plant Kin is a four-part, beginner-friendly herbalism series designed to help you cultivate confidence, intimacy, and agency in your relationship with plants and personal wellness. No prior experience is needed—just a sense of wonder and a willingness to learn.
Each 3-hour session (9am–12pm) offers hands-on experience, seasonal insight, and a practical introduction to eight local medicinal plants—revealed during class—along with the traditional knowledge and skills to begin building your own green Ph*rm*cy. You’ll learn to identify, grow, and harvest herbs with reverence, while creating remedies that nourish body and spirit
Module 1: Herbal Infusions for Body & Psyche
Theme: Nourishment, emotional balance, and building a foundation with everyday herbs
What You’ll Learn:
How to identify and work with two deeply supportive herbs—one known for its nutritive value, the other for emotional and nervous system support
Introduction to herbal actions like nervines and adaptogens
The role of herbal infusions in everyday wellness, and how to use plants to nourish both body and mind
Hands-On Practice:
Learn to harvest, dry, and store herbs with care
Make your own infusions and teas to take home
Plants Covered: Revealed in class—one herb for nutrition & energy, one for mood support
Materia Medica: For both plants—covering identification, benefits, preparation, dosage, and safety
Each module includes:
A deep dive into two medicinal plants
A hands-on folk medicine-making skill (teas, salves, tinctures, or tonics)
Herbal energetics, ethical wildcrafting, and reciprocal connection with the land
A comprehensive Materia Medica entry for each plant
