Key of She & Footprints Jazz Club have collaborated to create a new jam night for more experimental jams! This will be led by female and non-binary players, but is open to ALL genders.
7:30pm-late
3rd Thursday May 15th
3rd Thursday July 17th
MORE INFO:
Key of She x Footprints is a collaborative jam night where we deliberately try out weird and wonderful ways of making music.
A jam with 5 clarinet players. A jam just between a singer and bassist. A jam with no rhythm or melody, but a tonne of texture and atmosphere to get lost into. When we let go of trying to sound 'good', or a certain way, and we choose to listen and give space in the music, then the magic turns up.
We really encourage women and minority gendered musicians to get stuck in. We'd love to see our male participants, particularly confident/experienced players, consider how their playing and presence can encourage less confident players to take part.
GROUND RULES:
• Open mind and heart. Be willing to try something different.
• No showboating or shredding.
• Less soloing, more interacting.
• Listen, listen, listen. Copy someone's melody or idea and contribute to this.
• Start simple, repeat it. People can grow something more complex with you when you make it easy for them to join you.
• Weird instruments and playing techniques are definitely welcome.
We provide sound set-up for 4 mics, bass, keyboard, and drum kit. Otherwise, please bring your own instrument/synth/guitar/ horn.
