Led by a saxophonist and composer, Luke Chakrabarti, music with a truly individual sound, deeply resonant and beautifully expressive, from an ensemble with a spellbinding blend of contemporary jazz improvisation and the sounds of folk and post-rock, and influences ranging from Brian Blade’s Fellowship band to Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
Five of the UK’s finest musicians bring their individual musical identities to create a collective voice and shared narrative, simultaneously a celebration of community and individuality by way of personal expression and collective communication.
Luke Chakrabarti (alto sax) is originally from Sheffield and has been performing regularly with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra at venues including Ronnie Scotts. His band includes Torin Davies (guitar), Dan Kemshell (guitar), Josh Vadiveloo (bass) - you may have seen Josh previously at The Lescar in the bands of Xhosa Cole and David Austin Grey - and Jonno Gaze (drums).
Their gig at Lancaster Jazz Festival last September was a true highlight of the weekend, don’t miss their return to The Lescar.
