It feels like quite the coup to be bringing Boo Hewerdine to The Lantern. From his band The Bible in the 80s, countless projects (including his work with Fairground Attraction's Eddi Reader), and, of course, his solo work, Boo is well known and celebrated for his songs and performances across the UK and further.
Recent reviews have cited his work as being 'tender and wistful,' and Total Entertainment saying 'Albums like “Understudy” prove that music doesn’t have to be hard-hitting to be powerful. They just need to come from the heart and if there is one thing you can say about Hewerdine and this album is that it is an album that couldn’t be more honest and straight from the heart if it tried. A truly beautiful record from start to finish.'
While he is no stranger to Sheffield, this will be his first time on our stage, and we're so happy.
The evening will be opened with a set from Sheffield singer/songwriter Duncan Parsons.
Boo Hewerdine
For over 30 years Boo Hewerdine has been considered one of the UK's finest singer-songwriters. As lead singer of seminal band, The Bible through to his subsequent solo work and long-time collaboration with the incredible Eddi Reader he has become something of a national treasure. He is in demand as a writer, producer and performer. Over a hundred of his songs have been covered by the likes of KD Lang, Kris Drever, Chris Difford, Heidi Talbot and Hannah Rarity. His last album ‘Before’ was recorded with supreme Danish multi- instrumentalist Gustaf Ljunggren. It garnered multiple five-star reviews.
Since then, he has released a lockdown EP, Singularities and a new album on Reveal Records. On this tour he will be singing songs from his new album and his extraordinary back catalogue. A naturally gifted raconteur his gigs are always a total joy.

Duncan Parsons
It sometimes feels like Duncan is part of the furniture at The Lantern! Always a welcome addition to an evening, he will be playing tunes from his various albums, taking in songs about Ladybird Books, Children's TV, The Green Cross Code Man, and Robots..
