The blessing of Amitabha, the Buddha of Limitless Light, is considered essential for the auspicious transition of one’s consciousness between the time of death and one’s next rebirth. Knowledge of his reality, or mandala, allows one to find complete liberation from cyclic existence. The Amitabha Empowerment, a traditional ceremony within Vajrayana Buddhism, is considered an important step for beginning and deepening in Buddhist practice and profoundly beneficial for one’s good health and long life.

Sunday, May 11, 10am-12pm - Riwo Sang Chöd Smoke Offering Puja at Amitabha Stupa & Peace Park. (free event, donation suggested)

Riwo Sang Chöd literally means “Mountain Smoke Offering” and is one of the most powerful practices for cleansing the environment, increasing health and prosperity, and stimulating world peace and harmony. Performed outdoors at the Stupa, the smoke offerings are transformed into inexhaustible amrita (medicine), that are visualized to emanate throughout space like massive clouds with vast desirable qualities that heal and benefit all beings. By purifying outer and inner elements we create auspicious circumstances to accumulate merit and wisdom, now and for the year ahead.

Khenpo Karze graduated from Ngagyur Nyingma Institute’s intensive Buddhist graduate course in 2006, and was awarded a Khenpo certificate, equivalent to a PhD in Buddhist Philosophy in 2011. He has received teachings and empowerments from many great Nyingma masters, and taught extensively in various Palyul temples in Nepal, India, Europe and Taiwan.
