All are welcome to a free Sound Healing Drum jam Saturday at Huckaby Trailhead up Schnebly rd. 7-9pm! Bring your drum, chair, acoustic instruments, including healing bowls. A few small lights woulds also be helpful during the last 30 minutes.
The Sedona Drum and Healing Circle grew naturally from a shared desire to explore the transformative power of rhythm and sound. Rooted in heart-centered collaboration and improvisational drumming, our gatherings have given rise to a unique, intuitive formula—one where healing, connection, and personal growth emerge through the joy of making music together. Our core aim is to access the powerful internal state of flow, a space of deep focus, presence, and creative energy, while collectively experiencing the uplifting and restorative effects of rhythm, sound, and movement.
Over the last couple of years, what has emerged is what we call a Full Spectrum Healing Rhythm Sequence. It is a simple, yet powerful arc of sound that engages the full range of our human experience: body, mind, emotions, and spirit. It works by moving us through natural cycles of activation and settling, play and reflection, noise and silence. Each phase helps reset the nervous system, reawaken creativity, and reconnect us to our deeper sense of self. Each cycle is 45-60 minutes.
We begin with raw, unsettled and chaotic drumming, meant to disrupt looping thoughts and wake up the body. This early pulse activates the nervous system and helps release stored tension. Once we sync up rhythmically as a group, it creates a safe and coherent space where people feel free to let go, express themselves, and explore new ways of being. In other words, freedom awakens. At this stage, spontaneous, heart-led improvisation unfolds.
As the drumming slows and softens, we transition to singing bowls, shruti box, and vocal toning and feel the inward pull. These sounds guide us into deep listening, quieting the mind and attuning us to inner sensations, breath, and awareness.
Next, the sounds of handpans, flutes, chimes, and breathwork opens a liminal doorway. These tones help us imagine and attune to the rhythm of our future becoming. We play with intention, voice, and vision. The frame drum, echoing the primal heartbeat, returns us to the body. Around this pulse, shakers, hand drums, and bells gather, building energy. A joyful rhythm takes over as we co-create patterns and layers that reflect our aliveness and interconnectedness.
Eventually, the rhythm begins to soften. We return to a slow, unified heartbeat, and from there, into shared silence. A moment of stillness and gratitude follows—where we ground, integrate, and honor the journey we’ve just moved through together.
This arc is more than a musical structure. It is a re-patterning tool: by interrupting old neural and emotional patterns, inviting embodied presence, and gently guiding us through full-spectrum expression—from chaos to coherence—it allows space for new habits of thought, feeling, and identity to take root. Through rhythm, we regulate. Through sound, we remember. Through flow, we rewire.
Our circles are an ever-evolving tapestry of sound—shaped by the people, the land, the energy of the moment, and the instruments that arrive. We welcome the healing resonance of bowls, handpans, flutes, bells, didgeridoos, and other soul-soothing instruments. Whether you’re a total beginner or an experienced musician, you’ll find a welcoming rhythm of challenge, connection, expression, and transformation.
