$20 for the whole night, whether you go to the class and/or jam.

-- CLASS DESCRIPTION --
This class will first explore human locomotion, looking to anatomy, developmental movement coordinations, and real time sensation to support safer improvisational risk taking. As we start to tune to each other, we will borrow animal behaviors to inspire scores for compositional play, as well as both spatiotemporal and social navigation at the jam.
-- CLASS FACILITATOR --
Miriam Wolodarski (she/her) is a teaching artist, cultural worker, and mother with over a decade of experience teaching contemporary dance, improvisation, and composition at universities, festivals, and studios, including UC Davis, USF, CI@50, SFDI, wcciJAM and Freiburg CI Festival. Her original performance work has been supported by programs at YBCA, CounterPULSE, TragantDansa, Centre Cívic Barceloneta, and The Hemispheric Institute, among others. She is currently the Artistic Director of the arts organization Sense Object, and co-manager of the Berkeley Finnish Hall. She holds a MFA in Contemporary Performance from Naropa University and a BSS in Political Science from Uppsala Universitet. As a dancer, she has had the privilege of working with Scott Wells & Dancers, Sarah Shelton Mann, and Barbara Dilley, among others. Currently, she experiments with dance pedagogy through Compostable Feminisms, a project with longtime collaborator Rosemary Hannon, which frames dance as a contemplative practice giving practitioners, observers, and teachers alike opportunities to approach the socio-political, emotional, and philosophical questions in our bodies. senseobject.com

* Wear clothing that will keep your butt, genitals and nipples covered while moving in non-linear and unpredictable ways. Actually, more skin coverage is better for C.I movements.
* Don't wear strong fragrances.
* Please remove jewelry (and no belt buckles).

The movement space is on the 2nd floor, accessible by the stairs or via an elevator in the back of the building.
