Join PacSci for a special screening of A Beautiful Planet to mark the 50th anniversary of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, the first crewed international space mission. This landmark moment in space history demonstrated the potential for collaboration beyond borders and helped lay the foundation for future partnerships in space exploration—including the creation of the International Space Station, which takes center stage in the film.
Narrated by Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence and produced in cooperation with NASA, A Beautiful Planet features stunning, real footage captured by astronauts aboard the ISS. The film offers a rare view of Earth from orbit—its beauty, its complexity, and the visible signs of human impact over time.
Before the film, we’ll be joined by Dan Abramov, a local NASA Solar System Ambassador, along with members of the Seattle-Tashkent Sister City Association, who will share insights into the Apollo-Soyuz mission’s legacy and how cities like Tashkent—home to key mission training and support facilities—remain connected across the globe to the story of international cooperation in space.
After the film screening, our presenters will return to the stage for audience Q&A.
In between screenings, presenters will be facilitating activities and discussions related to Apollo-Soyuz Test Project and human space flight on the main exhibit floor in Building 2.
The featured film is rated G. Due to the nature of the presentation, this program is recommended for guests ages 5 and up.
