Comedy Night at Brunos

This month's show has a terrific lineup of comedians from all over the Bay Area.

Hosted by local comedian Michael Booth, he has been staple of the Santa Cruz comedy scene for the last several years, he has perfomed and hosted in the Santa Cruz Comedy Festival, Don't Tell, and recently opened for K*ll Tony regular Casey Rocket at the Catalyst. He hosts this show and the Woodhouse Comedy Night in town.

Your featured comedians this month are Hayden Remi, Tyler Stannard and Rea Kapur.

Hayden Remi is the only person from Oakland, CA. He tells quirky jokes about animals and how joining ISIS is a good second date. Hayden has performed at SF Sketchfest, the Cape Fear Comedy Festival and the Cream City Comedy Festival. He also produces Critical Hit, a weekly comedy show at a board game store in Oakland and that's just fine.

Tyler Stannard is a San Jose based comedian. Tyler grew up absorbing all things comedy. Then Tyler got the knack for making people laugh when he was in school being the class clown that even the teachers loved and from then he always knew he wanted to get serious about not being serious and make people laugh for a living. Starting stand up comedy at the age of 19, Tyler quickly became known for killing while being such a young comic with his unique and hilarious one-liners and non sequiturs. After a few years building a name for himself in the Bay Area Comedy Scene, Tyler and three of his best friends in comedy created a local showcase called Super Stacked Comedy where the show quickly became a community staple getting featured in local newspapers and magazines. Since then, Tyler has evolved his comedy to a mix of one-liners,observational humor, riffing and being just a straight up goofy boy which has allowed him to open for some of the best up and coming comedians who have appeared on Comedy Central, HBO, Conan and the Joe Rogan Podcast. Tyler is a comedian you want to see now before he gets big so you can tell everyone you know you saw him before he was cool!

Rea Kapur (she/her) is a Bay Area based multi hyphenate whose work spans multiple artistic mediums: film, theatre, sketch comedy, and stand up! Growing up as a neuro-divergent, brown, gay woman, Rea never saw herself portrayed in media, and now creates art for people like her. Specifically, she’s passionate about creating art with realistic portrayals of mental illness that advocates for mental health reform.

Your headliner for the evening is Phil Griffiths.

As far as mid-life crises go, Phil Griffiths’ wife stacks his career in stand-up comedy as better than a drug addiction but worse than him having a mistress. He is a paid regular at San Francisco and Sacramento Punch Line, Cobb's, Rooster Ts & San Jose Improv. Phil has opened for Joe List, Beth Stelling, Chad Daniels, Kyle Kinane, Ms. Pat, Laurie Kilmartin, Todd Glass, Jackie Kashian, and more. He also produces and hosts Comedy Sharks, a successful comedy show in the Bay Area.
