Visit the gardens at West Overton Village and learn about pollinators! As part of the Westmoreland Pollinator Partners' Garden Gaze Days, visit our gardens on Sunday, July 13, for special activities:
-Take home a free pollinator plant (while supplies last)
-At 11 a.m., kids can enjoy a nature picture book read-aloud in the garden
-Find what's in bloom with a garden scavenger hunt
-Use the iNaturalist app to document as many pollinators as possible on a special one-day bioblitz
-Collect a sticker for your Westmoreland Pollinator Passport
Spanning 21 pollinator-friendly gardens across Westmoreland County, Garden Gaze Days will be hosted on multiple days throughout the summer. Each garden will provide a Pollinator Passport and a sticker so garden gazers can keep track of their visits. Once you collect a certain number of stickers from each region, you can receive more free pollinator plants!
West Overton Village's gardens are part of the county's Southwest region gardens, which will be open to visitors on Sunday, July 13, from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (the other gardens are at Laurelville Retreat Center and Smithton Borough). The North-Central region will host their event on Sunday, June 29, from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., and the Southeast region will host theirs on Sunday, August 13, from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Visit and enjoy the 3 gardens in the Southwest region and get a sticker for each garden visited. If you have at least 2 of the 3 stickers on your passport, bring it to a designated pickup location for a free native plant. Designated pickup areas are at the Ligonier Country Market Special Feature booths on July 26 and August 9; or the Monarchs, Milkweeds, and More event at Ligonier’s Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art.
