THIRDSDAY NITE #008 Michael Benedict & BOPITUDE

‘THIRDSDAY NITE’ is a monthly jazz show at the Van Dyck Music Club held on the Third Thursday of every month - Show #008 features Michael Benedict & BOPITUDE!

Michael Benedict and BOPITUDE is a Hard-Bop Quintet that draws on the familiar of the Hard Bop era and uncovers material that has had little or no exposure from the past, bringing a 21 st century approach to this important era of Jazz.

The group features Michael Benedict-drums and leader, Chris Pasin-trumpet, Brian Patneaude-tenor saxophone, David Gleason- piano and Mike Lawrence-bass. BOPITUDE is a 4 star Downbeat Magazine rated ensemble. Their album “Five and One” was listed by Downbeat as one of the Best Jazz Recordings of 2013.

Michael received a Bachelor’s degree in music education from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies from Rutgers University. He has toured the United States extensively, performing at numerous concert halls, colleges, clubs, and festivals and has performed in Europe. In 2012, Michael went on a US State Department tour of Tunisia, Africa where he taught and performed with the Planet Arts Trio.
