Join us as 40 artists capture the Adirondacks on canvas during the 17th Annual Adirondack Plein Air Festival!
6 days of events, nationally known artists, hundreds of paintings and over $5,000 in prizes. Visitors are encouraged to grab a map and visit painters on site or attend some of the events throughout the week!
Monday, Aug 18: The public is welcome to the “Meet the Artists” reception hosted by the Hotel Saranac on their 2nd floor terrace from 7-9pm. The Hotel will also display Nocturne paintings in the Oak Room until Thursday night.
Tuesday, Aug 19: “Paint the VIC” - Artists will be at Paul Smith’s College VIC, a wonderful introduction to the Adirondack landscape with miles of easy hiking trails, mountain views, wetlands, forests, and more. Spectators are welcome to come and watch the artists paint!
Wednesday, Aug 20: “Paint the Adirondacks”- Artists are free to choose their own painting locations. Visitors are invited to pick up maps and watch the artists at work. Wednesday evening watch the artists "Paint the Sunset" at Ampersand Bay's Sunset Bistro. Food and drinks available for purchase.
Thursday, Aug 21: “Paint the Town” - Artists paint in the Village of Saranac Lake and produce small paintings for the silent auction. There will be a Third Thursday ArtWalk from 5-7:30pm, featuring live music, art displays, and demonstrations all over town. “Nocturne Contest” Judging announced at 7:30pm at Hotel Saranac.
Friday, Aug 22: “Paint the Saranac River” - Artists will paint at the Saranac Lake Fish & Game Club in the morning. The “Special Preview Party” starts at 6pm. Be the first to see hundreds of new paintings from the Festival and enjoy drinks and light bites. Tickets are $25 each, available at the door or online. Awards announced at 7:30pm.
Saturday, Aug 23: “Quick Draw” from 9-11am - Artists have just 2 hours to do a painting. Winner announced on the front steps of the Town Hall at 11:15am. The Show & Sale opens to the public at 11am with FREE admission. Hundreds of outstanding Adirondack paintings will be available for purchase, fresh off the easel. The Silent Auction closes at 4pm and the Festival ends at 5pm.
Help celebrate the 17 years of success that Saranac Lake ArtWorks has achieved. The commissions on sales from the Adirondack Plein Air Festival help fund the year-round programs and activities of ArtWorks.
