About Lauren B:
Lauren Benjamin, lovingly known as Lauren B., is a Bay Area native whose dance journey spans over 20 years as a performer, choreographer, and educator. Her diverse repertoire spans Hip Hop, House, Boogaloo, Locking, Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, Ballet, Authentic Jazz, and Lindy Hop. Trained by legendary pioneers, she has graced stages with professional companies and worked closely with Camille A. Brown at Jacob’s Pillow. Lauren has showcased her choreography at the SF Hip Hop Dance Festival, Ethnic Dance Festival, MoAD, and the De Young Museum. She is proudly the Founding Director of Be Movement Collective, a platform dedicated to using dance as a vehicle for authentic expressions and social change. Lauren shares her passion for movement through teaching regular House Dance classes at City Dance Studios and On One Studios. She also serves as the Northern California Director of California Teacher Development Collaborative. Passionate about building community, Lauren integrates a strong practice of love into her teaching and leadership.
