Coyote Island: Shadow Magic Tour @ Brick & Mortar Music Hall | San Francisco, CA

Coyote Island is led by Mike O’Hehir, an old soul crafting fresh, genre-blending music with his band and diverse collaborators. From the Caribbean-infused pop of breakout single “Here Before” to the reflective tones of “Shine through the Darkness,” their sound is both uplifting and introspective.

Following the success of their 2023 album Holy Illusion, the band returns with “Trust the Path” — a dynamic new single featuring The Hip Abduction and a taste of a full-length album due this August. The song evolves from warm melodies to thundering rhythms, reflecting the band’s ethos of following your inner truth.

Blending reggae, folk, Afrobeats, psychedelia, and more, Coyote Island builds immersive, transformative live experiences. Guitarist Amir Rivera brings unpredictable energy, while bassist Garrett Jones and drummer Ryan Benoit keep the groove grounded yet fluid.

Like Khruangbin or Vampire Weekend, they fuse global influences into something uniquely their own. O’Hehir sums it up best: “You have to dance in authenticity.”
