Bioengineering Day 2025
Bioengineering Day (BE Day) is UC San Diego’s largest annual Bioengineering event hosted each year during Spring Quarter. The event’s primary objective is to showcase the excellence of the senior undergraduate class and their student-led projects in both academia and industry, while highlighting the excellence of the UC San Diego Bioengineering Department. This goal is accomplished through the poster sessions, where teams of senior undergraduate students present their Senior Design Projects, developed and guided under faculty and industry mentorship. Additionally, these poster sessions serve to inspire the rest of UC San Diego’s bioengineering undergraduate population, namely the junior class.
Beyond the senior undergraduate student presentations, BE Day offers a unique opportunity for students to learn from and network with bioengineering professors and industry representatives through the Keynote Speech and Industry Demonstrations. These events serve as an essential bridge connecting the current leaders in bioengineering with the future innovators of the field.
Lastly, BE Day traditionally features the final round of the annual Quizbowl competition. Hosted by Professor Shankar Subramaniam, this highly anticipated event pits the winning undergraduate team against a team of graduate students in an exciting quiz-based competition that tests players’ knowledge on a wide variety of subjects.
