Join interdisciplinary sustainable artists Gigi Farmer and Leila Ghasempor as they guide you through traditional Japanese fabric-folding techniques to create your very own beautiful Kanzashi flowers using reclaimed and rescued fabric.
In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to craft fabric flowers that can be transformed into stylish accessories—perfect for embellishing your purse, hat, hair ties, or even creating a unique brooch. All materials are provided. Basic sewing or crafting experience is recommended.

Gigi Farmer is a multidisciplinary artist with a background in art history, ceramics, and textile arts from diverse cultural traditions. Gigi will lead the workshop, inspired by traditional Japanese fabric-folding techniques, with Leila Ghasempor that will co-teach alongside her.
Leila Ghasempor is an interdisciplinary sustainable artist who studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. She is the founder of People Around Us, a platform dedicated to supporting artists and crafters. Leila also serves as the Workshops Director at FabMo, an organization focused on sustainability and the creative reuse of materials.
