Mujeres Marcharan Coalition is coming together to protest Trump's brazen misuse of 90 million dollars to gratify his abuse of power parading upwards of 8000 troops for his birthday. As a woman, queer and trans centered organization we condemn the glorification of the military within San Antonio, "Military City USA," as we know that many of us have been used as pawns to fight rich man's wars, we have seen our local police get more militarized, we've seen our city cater and give away our lands to the military, intelligence and cyber security and prey upon women, queers and trans folk within the military and out of the military. While the military is one of the most patriarchal and white supremacist institutions, the US feeds this parasite with over a trillion dollars each year to continue the aggression of sovereign nations around the world destabilizing countries, hurting families, killing & raping women and gender oppressed people. This spending could be redirected to solve the issues of housing, food and healthcare insecurity, letting the rich fight for themselves to protect their power and privilege. Instead, they use us working class people to carry out these atrocities leading to dehumanization, PTSD, addiction, violence and many other issues.
We know that Trump is a symptom of the steady encroachment of fascism in the USA. We call this protest not only to stand united against Trump's blatant bratty child behavior irresponsibly throwing our tax dollars away for a vanity parade, but because we are strong, powerful and we love our people - what better way of demonstrating this than uniting in protest demanding what we need - housing, dignified jobs, debt cancelation, Queer and Trans liberation, abortion access and bodily sovereignty, an end to gender based violence and an end to imperialism. We will be dropping a banner and having an exciting action. The event features drag performances by Post Mojon, Chapo Rone, and Readscare.
