“Creativity is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift to God.”
Bob Moawad
At the heart of spiritual direction is the desire to deepen one’s relationship with God. Immerse yourself in creative imagination, scriptural encounter, the natural world, poetry and prose to encounter the Divine at Sarum College’s conference for Spiritual Directors.
The Sarum College 2025 conference for spiritual directors, Creative Encounter with the Divine, offers an immersive experience spread across three days.
The programme is still developing but here is an overview:
Headline speakers include Revd Collen Shekerie, Chaplin from Birmingham Cathedral, who will take you on an imaginative train journey in her session entitled “Mind the Gap”. Her session invites you to reflect on the Good Samaritan and the 23rd Psalm and its themes of radical hospitality, care and love.
In Revd Dr Julian Pursehouse’s session, participants will consider the idea of poetry being a means of grace within the work of Spiritual Direction.
Alison Webster will take you into the world of nature and the fungi that live beneath our feet.
Richard Everett, author, scriptwriter and filmmaker, will draw you into a conversation with a cleaner that will make you think deeply about our work and purpose in Spiritual Accompaniment, and may also make you laugh!
The conference is open to Spiritual Directors and those training in this ministry who wish to: immerse themselves in thought provoking sessions; share deep conversation; reflect on practice; and connect with fellow pilgrims who walk this road with you.
Bring yourself, an open mind, your inner creativity and your willingness to encounter the Divine.
