Wilderness Inquiry is excited to host our 5th Annual ASL Day on the River! Whether you’re Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing, a signer, or a community ally, this event is designed with access, community, and connection at its core. We’ll paddle together down the Mississippi River from Hidden Falls to Harriet Island, with ASL-fluent and DDBHH+ staff and support throughout the experience.
Schedule of the Day:
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Lunch & Social Time
Arrive early to connect with others, meet your trip leaders, and enjoy a light lunch before we hit the water.
12:00 PM: Safety Talk & Orientation
Our Outdoor Leaders will cover paddling basics, safety procedures, river rules, and access information with ASL interpretation and visual aids provided.
12:45 PM: Launch & Paddle!
We’ll begin our paddle down the Mississippi, enjoying the scenery, sharing stories, and moving together as a community.
3:30 – 4:00 PM: Arrival at Harriet Island & Shuttle Back
We’ll wrap up at Harriet Island where a shuttle bus will be ready to bring participants back to Hidden Falls.
Fee: $10 a person.
