Join us for “St. Louis Park Walking Tour: The Great Swamp,” one of a pair of related tours which shine a light on the fascinating undercity of St. Louis Park produced in collaboration with the St. Louis Park Historical Society.
This tour will explore the northern side of the area once known as “The Great Swamp.” We’ll learn how Thomas B. Walker’s vision for industry enjoyed a promising launch in 1890, only to be scuttled by the Panic of 1893, briefly revived by the humble sugar beet, and finally leaving a hidden legacy of groundwater pollution.
“St. Louis Park Walking Tour: The Great Swamp,” will happen on Sunday, June 22nd, at 1:00pm. It will be preceded on Tuesday, June 17th at 5:00pm by “St. Louis Park: Skunk Hollow,” exploring the area once known as “Skunk Hollow,” and uncovering a history every bit as colorful as its nickname. We highly recommend signing up for both tours to get the full story!
