Three Artist Receptions at The Paramount Center for the Arts during the Art Crawl on Friday, June 20!
1.
Sports & Arts Collide by Max Fredin in the Historic Lobby:
My exhibit will showcase my artwork from the past 4 years. It will show my love for sports and people should be able to see how my work has progressed throughout the years. I am a 17 year old artist from Cold Spring. I am a junior at ROCORI high school. I play football and baseball, along with my love for art. I specialize in a number of different mediums, including oil paint, markers, colored pencils, and graphite pencils.
2.
Species of Concern by Tanya Piatz in the lower level Gallery C:
I have been using the Minnesota’s DNR “Species of Special Concern” list to create my illustrations. My recent works are primarily done in inks and gouache. Once I have decided on the species to illustrate I will research the reasons for decline using the Minnesota Breeding Bird Atlas, Cornell Lab of Ornithology, as well as other sources. Once I have determined a common thread of decline I will then Illustrate the bird in their ideal habitat using colors to pull the viewer eyes to the species in a harmonious environment.
3.
Behind the Door by Mike Weatherly in the Gallery St. Germain:
Behind the Door tries to address things that we as people would rather keep secret and behind closed doors such as an addiction or abuse. The door also symbolizes a portal that these people might be trying to escape. With the surging rate of opioid addiction, overdoses and abuse, we are experiencing one of greatest public health crises our nation has ever face. I hope that this work will help start a conversation about these issues and bring awareness. I am interested in how artist addresses themes that are tragic, scary and painful and how as an artist to grapple with the human condition.
