Marsyas Trio - Hands On Music Workshop !

90-min Music & Science Workshop – How Does My Instrument Work?

Focussing on integrating music and scientific knowledge through immersive activities.


The workshop begins with the musicians performing excerpts from their show Musical Waterways: the Amazing Inventioneers; discussing how composers conjure up imagery of water scenes in nature and the sounds of industry. The trio will talk about how their instruments’ designs evolved over time, how we can create invented sounds and how sound waves work. Students will be invited to take part in vocal experiments that will bring to life the science of acoustics.


A fun, hands-on experiment creating sound on instruments made from recycled materials plus activities using vocal and body percussion will be used to create short pieces.
