A tale of invention and scientific discovery in an age when England led the world in learning how to design and build ships, bridges and harness steam power.
Themed for youngsters aged 8 to 12 years but suitable to be enjoyed by an audience of all ages.
The plot explores the themes of aspiration, gender inclusivity and simply hair brained inventing schemes as we follow the main characters in how they led modernisation around the world. The Amazing Inventioneers is an hour-long interactive show that follows the story of the brilliant Engineers John Smeaton, Sarah Guppy and Mr & Mrs Parsons on their pioneering mission to design England’s bridges, canals and steam turbines.
The Trio talk about their instruments and the incredible way in which they create their brilliant sounds, and we’ll meet the people who invented them.
Music in the show includes: Haydn, Eugene Goossens The Waterwheel & By the Rivers, George Crumb Sea Nocturne, Laura Bowler Steam Turbines (from ‘Salutem’), Melanie Bonis L’aube (Dawn) and Wallace & Gromit.

The Marsyas Trio’s position as one of the UK's foremost mixed chamber ensembles equips the group with a unique musical outlook.
For over a decade , the Marsyas Trio has been championing the vast body of repertoire for flute, cello and piano, and instrumental combination which originated in the Classical era with Haydn and Clementi.
Current Artist By-Fellows at Churchill College, University of Cambridge and FUAM Ensemble in Residence at the University of Leeds in 2024-25.
