Indigo Dye Day and Art Elephant

Join the Sacramento Center for the Textile Arts (SCTA) for its 3rd Annual Community Indigo Dip Dye Day on June 14, 2025, from 10:20 AM to 2 PM at the Shepard Garden & Arts Center. This event will be a 1-hour "Indigo Fiber Arts Experience" led by indigo and Shibori expert LuAnne Hansen, with our popular Art Elephant sale of fiber art and craft materials sale.

The workshop fee is $31, which includes all materials.
During the workshop, participants can choose either a cotton bandana or a fat quarter (which can be used to sew another item) to dye. We will simplify the complex indigo dyeing process for beginners.

Participants will fold, tie, clamp, or wrap their fabric to create areas the dye cannot reach. This technique will allow the dye to penetrate some areas while leaving others white, resulting in a beautiful blue-and-white pattern.
