Rebetikon – Live at Matrix Rotterdam
Formed in Cologne, Germany in 2016, Rebetikon is a group of passionate musicians dedicated to the authentic sound and spirit of Rebetiko – often described as the Greek blues.
Rebetikon was born out of a deep desire to keep alive the musical traditions of Rebetiko, which emerged in the early 20th century among Greek and Asia Minor communities. Their performances are a heartfelt tribute to the genre’s roots, marked by devotion, simplicity, and respect for the original style of composition and interpretation.

Rebetikon is in 2016 opgericht in Keulen, Duitsland, door een groep bevlogen muzikanten met een gezamenlijke passie: het overbrengen van de authentieke klank en ziel van de Rebetiko – ook wel de Griekse blues genoemd.
Gedreven door een diepe behoefte om de muzikale traditie van het Rebetiko-leven (begin 20e eeuw in Griekenland en Klein-Azië) tot leven te brengen, kiest Rebetikon bewust voor de oorspronkelijke stijl van componeren en uitvoeren. Met eenvoud, toewijding en respect brengt de groep de rauwe emotie en tijdloze melodieën van deze muziek terug op het podium – bijna 100 jaar na haar ontstaan.
